Powerleaf: Intelligent Solar Charger with A-Grade Materials

Intelligent Solar Charger with A-Grade Materials

FlexSolar a pioneer in solar battery chargers as they claim has launch the improved USB solar charger – Powerleaf on Kickstarter. Powerleaf is a portable solar charger for camping, travelling, hiking and emergency preparation which can charge all USB devices including smart phones, tablets, power banks, and other gadgets. Powerleaf can supply power for you in different environments, even in the desert and snow, the only thing it needs to produce energy is lots of sun.

Comparison with traditional solar chargers

Compared with traditional solar chargers, Powerleaf has many highlights:

Color variations

The appearance of Powerleaf solar power generator is very sleek and colorful and will definitely catch your eyes when you see this solar charger for the first time. It comes in bright yellow, green, red and black colors so you can choose the one to match your equipment. The producers of Powerleaf also paid much attention to detail. The copper ring on a solar battery charger is sturdy and could be hung from a tree or support stand. Round corners prevent any chances of scratching the hand and the excellent materials used in production ensure the ruggedness for camping and hiking.

Portability

For the solar power charger to be useful on your hiking expeditions it needs to be as portable as possible as there is always shortage of space in your backpacks. That has been of the considerations of FlexSolar when designing the Powerleaf solar charger so they made is extra portable with dimensions 262mmx160mm (folded) which is smaller than a standard A4 sheet of paper. Its lightness and relatively small dimensions with a 360 degree folding ability makes it easy to fit in your backpacks, bags or any other luggage. The extra usefulness for being really portable in its water resistance as Powerleaf solar charger charges your battery even under water so you don’t need to be nervous that it will get broken if the rain catches you unprepared.

Technology – Auto restart and Maximum Power Point Tracking

As for all solar chargers you need direct sunlight for Powerleaf to work properly and charge your devices. In case of bad weather, temporary cloudiness or when shadow shelters the solar panel, the solar charger will stop working. For traditional solar charger products, people have to unplug the USB cable and replug it otherwise the solar charger doesn’t generate energy for the devices to charge. But the difference from other solar charges is that Powerleaf solves this problem with auto restart function. As the producers claim that when shadow leaves the Powerleaf solar charger will automatically restart in 5 seconds and come back to charging function. When sunlight gets stronger in the process of charging a cellphone, Powerleaf will disconnect and auto restart at a higher current to charge the cellphone. This keeps the burden to watch closely if your gadget is charging off your mind so you can relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) function is a technique used with photovoltaic (PV) solar systems to maximize power output. The voltage regulator inside junction box has unique MPPT function. As they claim it increases the output power by 30% by controlling the charger`s output voltage at its maximum power point.

Product structure

The Powerleaf solar charger is made of high efficiency solar quality cells which by the claims of the maker are up to 23% conversion efficient. The solar cells are in between 2 layers of EVA finished with ETFE (Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene) film which has excellent ability of light transmittance and aging resistance. It does not only improve the output power of solar panel but also can extend lifespan of the solar panels. Powerleaf mainly includes solar panel and junction box. The voltage regulator inside junction box is suitable for smart phones like iPhone, Samsung, Blackberry, HTC, power banks, and other electronic devices with its stable 5V output voltage, presents any harm to electronic devices or human body. At SolarFlex they made sure that Powerleaf solar battery charger is compliant with CE and RoHS certifications, pass all the tests, ensuring your safety and health. Moreover, Powerleaf has passed the Double 85 test which means it was put into the equipment with environment temperature 85 ℃, relative humidity 85%, tested for 1000 hours, the appearance and electrical performance of Powerleaf solar chargers are still good without any change.

Specifications

 How to use Powerleaf?

In good light conditions and sufficient sunshine the charging of your phone starts with plugging the USB power output line in the solar charger, unfolding the solar charger under direct sunlight avoiding any shadows on the surface of solar battery charger. With connecting the USB power output line with cellphone and adjusting the angle of the charger to recive more sunlight your phone starts to charge.

In case of insufficient sunlight it is advisable that you use powerbank which you connect with the solar charger, then unfold the solar charger under direct sunlight and connect the phone with the powerbank. That way the phone will charge with steady current and the power gained from the solar charger will power up the powerbank.
