Long Lasting Autonomy

By harnessing the solar power into a Long-lasting battery SOL is not only an environmentally friendly machine but also a powerful device built for people who have no access to electricity. The optimized core and the computer’s architecture were designed to work with a battery so that you can work all night and achieve more than ever on a single charge. Its extended 8-10-hour durability and a solar array that allows it to be used wherever you are, enables you to take SOL with you to the most remote places on earth and to work wherever you are travelling or simply enjoy an adventure while still being connected.

Truly Environmental Friendly Product

By using SOL’s solar panels you can contribute to helping the environment by reducing air pollution. According to the developers, each SOL computer could prevent approximately a ton of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere during its lifetime simply by not charging it exclusively through a power socket.

Inside the SOL

The SOL houses an Intel Atom D2500 1.86 GHz Duo Core processor with an Intel 945GSE + ICH7M chipset, a Seagate 320 GB of HDD storage and 2-4 GB of DDRIII SDRAM. For the graphics the SOL uses a built-in Intel GMA3600 graphics card with a 13.3 in LCD HD screen which shouldn’t drain the battery too quickly. It is also equipped with a 3 MP webcam fitted to the front along with two speakers and an internal mic for online video chats, plus inputs for USB 2.0, headphones, and HDMI, Wi-Fi and 3G/4G/LTE, plus connections for GPS and Bluetooth. For the software part, the computer has been optimized with Ubuntu in mind and comes pre-loaded with a suite of productivity tools, and an array of thousands of free apps available online. No extra software has to be purchased but another OS can be installed if needed.
